Actress and TMC MP Nusrat Jahan is not someone who shies away from saying what’s on her mind. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.

In, Nusrat Jahan spoke about her relationship with actor Yash Dasgupta and the speculation regarding her marital status.

Previously, she had cleared the air about her relationship with Yash when she said, “How do you know I’m not married?”

Here are excerpts from the exclusive interview:

You have already won everyone’s heart with your bold points of view and breezy way of speaking. Are you planning to take it up a notch? Can you tell us more about your Bollywood dreams?

No plans at the moment. OTT platforms have permitted all of us to mix and match our work. Like right now, there is no segregation between Tollywood and Bollywood as such. There were offers, but at the moment, I have too much on my plate. I’ll take it a little slow right now because it will be something completely new for me.

You were in the headlines for speaking up about your relationship with Yash. People have speculated so much.

I don’t know why people were so bothered about the whole marriage thing. They kept asking me. I mean, what do you expect? That I will call everyone up and say, “Hey, I’m getting married”? If so, you’re expecting the wrong thing. If I choose not to speak about my personal life, it’s my choice, right? I think two people who are married should know that themselves. If they are happy, then what more can one want?

So, are you married to Yash Dasgupta?

Yash is Hindu and you are Muslim. So what will your child [Yishaan] grow up as?

Like a good human being. That’s what we should all grow up into – good individuals. I am a Muslim and Yash is a Hindu. My son will know the good of both religions. He will serve humanity in the ways he should. We, as parents, have always been open-minded. In our house, we celebrate Diwali, Durga Puja, Eid, Christmas – everything. That way, I think we are going to set the right example of a secular India for Yishaan. He will grow up to be the ideal citizen of a secular India, I believe.

Nusrat Jahan gave birth to her son Yishaan on August 26, 2021. The baby’s birth certificate named Yash Dasgupta as the father, prompting several rumours about the couple.
