US regulator halts Boeing 737 jets’ production expansion, allows MAX 9 to fly

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Wednesday.

(Local time) barred troubled planemaker Boeing from expanding production of its 737 MAX aircraft due to “unacceptable” quality issues, news agency Reuters reported.

In another significant decision, the FAA gave its nod to allow 737 MAX 9, which was grounded after a mid-air blowout on Alaska Airlines earlier this month, to resume its flying operations after inspections were completed.
