The mother of Umesh Pal, a prime witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case who was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh on February 24, has demanded the death penalty for mafia-politician and former MP Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf and their children.
While speaking to India Today’s sister channel AajTak, Umesh Pal’s mother, Shanti Pal, demanded justice for her son and asked the government to kill the goons just like they killed her son. “They killed my son by making a chakravyuh. These people should be killed the same way they killed my son,” she said.
His wife Jaya Pal said her husband was scared and had even sought security. “We were fearless that nothing would happen in CM Yogi Adityanath’s government, but Umesh was killed. Now, I feel scared of my and my family’s lives.”
Jaya also said that her children do not know that their father is no more. “All they know is that their father was attacked by guns and he is in hospital. They always ask to bring back their father,” she said.
Atiq Ahmed has been identified as the master conspirator of the murder of Umesh Pal and two police guards. Atiq is currently locked in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad for orchestrating the kidnapping and assault on a real estate businessman, Mohit Jaiswal, from the Deoria jail.
As many as 160 criminal cases have been lodged against Atiq Ahmad’s family members, according to Uttar Pradesh Police.
Atiq has been named in 100 cases, while his brother Ashraf has 52 cases, wife Shaista Praveen has three, and sons Ali and Umar Ahmad have four and one cases, respectively, against them.
Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, was shot by unidentified assailants outside his house in Prayagraj.
