Are you a legacy blue tick holder on Twitter? Well, in that case, you may lose your verification very soon. In the latest move, the Twitter Verified account has unfollowed everyone on Twitter.

This hints that your free blue tick may disappear very soon. Elon Musk earlier said that all legacy blue tick holders would lose their verification on April 1, but that didn’t happen. But it sure looks like Musk and his team are working towards it and will soon remove all free blue ticks very soon.

Until now, the Twitter Verified account followed everyone who is verified on the platform. This has been the case since the beginning. But suddenly, on Friday morning, the account unfollowed everyone on Twitter, including Elon Musk, the company’s new Twitter boss, and also Jack Dorsey and everyone else. While there’s no clarity on why the account unfollowed everyone suddenly, we assume it could be over blue checkmark confusion.

Twitter has already started removing blue ticks from some legacy accounts, including the New York Times, and soon other free verification users will also lose their blue checkmark. But the question remains – why is Twitter removing blue ticks? Well, it is clear that Musk wants everyone who wants a blue tick next to their profile name to buy Twitter Blue subscription. In India, Twitter is charging Rs 900 from mobile app users, while web users will need to pay around Rs 600 per month. Now, with the Twitter Blue subscription comes lots of features and benefits that free account holders will not get.

First and foremost, blue subscription holders will get a blue tick next to their name. Of course, there will be a basic level of verification, but it is clear that whoever pays will get the blue tick. Now, that has become a joke on Twitter and people who are paying to get a blue tick are being trolled all over. Earlier, Twitter showed a message on blue subscription profiles which stated that they had paid for the blue tick. But earlier this week, Twitter updated the message a bit and now no one can distinguish between legacy and paid blue tick holders. “This account is verified because it’s subscribed to Twitter blue or is a legacy verified account,” the new message reads.

Some of the other exclusive features that blue subscription brings include long tweets, edit tweets, high-quality videos, and a lot more. In fact, Musk recently also said that blue subscribers will also get to see half the ads.
