Tesla workers living in fear of ‘dear employee’ layoff email: Report

Imagine waking up every day, wondering if an email with “Dear Employee…’ will cost you your job. That’s the reality for many Tesla workers.

Elon Musk announced plans to cut at least 10% of Tesla’s workforce as a cost-cutting measure amid a slump in sales and poor Q1 results. The company has remained on a path of uncertainty, leaving employees in constant worry.

The ongoing job cuts are expected to continue until at least June, reported Bloomberg.

Michael Minick, a former Tesla sales representative who was part of the layoffs in April, shared his thoughts on LinkedIn about the ongoing lay-offs at the US-based EV manufacturing firm.

“It’s difficult to imagine the feeling of walking on eggshells every day at work, uncertain whether or not you’ll be able to pay your bills or feed your family. It would be a relief to know that they can breathe and focus on their work, without the gray cloud of uncertainty looming over,” said Minick on LinkedIn.

Tesla’s workforce has undergone changes in recent years, shifting from its Silicon Valley roots and focussing on ventures beyond EVs, such as artificial intelligence and robotics.

Some current employees said that the decline in morale is due to Musk prioritising projects like a robotaxi over the manufacturing of EVs.
