Stranded maid, angry wife, one-night stand: Nawazuddin Siddiqui wraps himself up in scandals

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently landed in controversy when his domestic help Sapna Robin Masih claimed that she is stranded in Dubai because of him.

In a video shared by Rizwaan, wife Aaliya’s advocate, the domestic help is seen crying and asking for help. The lawyer further claimed that she had been hired ‘wrongfully’. He added that she was not paid her salary for two months under the pretext of Visa fees. This latest controversy isn’t the first time that he is under the scanner because of his personal life. Here are all the controversies governing Nawaz’s life.

NAWAZUDDIN’S TURBULENT RELATIONSHIP WITH WIFE AALIYA
Nawazuddin Siddiqui married Anjana Kishor Pandey in 2010. She soon changed her name to Aaliya. This was his second marriage. He was previously married to a woman named Sheeba, but the marriage did not last long. Nawaz knew Aaliya even before he became a star. The two were once in a relationship but eventually parted ways. He had once described their affair as a ‘tumultuous’ one.

AALIYA FILES FOR DIVORCE
Their marriage too proved to be as turbulent as their past relationship. In May 2020, Aaliya filed for divorce through a lawyer. She levelled serious allegations against him and even reverted to her original name. She, however, eventually decided to give the marriage a second chance. Despite this, they decided to live separately. She, however, revealed that she was trying to improve the relationship.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was once also accused of spying on his wife, a claim he dismissed. His wife too came out in his support. She said that it was the price he paid for being a public figure.

NAWAZ’S MARRIAGE HITS A ROUGH PATCH AGAIN
Their marriage hit a rough patch again earlier this year. In January, Nawazuddin’s mother, Mehrunisa Siddiqui filed an FIR (First Information Report) against Aaliya in connection with a property dispute. Versova police have registered a case under sections 452, 323, 504, 506 of IPC. Following this, she was even called for questioning. Aaliya responded to the controversy by saying that she was not sure if she would ever get justice.

In February, she said that she plans to file for divorce again. Aaliya also said that she wanted custody of her kids. She further claimed that Nawazuddin had harassed her a lot and even disowned their second child.

“He has mentally harassed me a lot. I think I will divorce him and fight for custody of my kids. I am not hungry for money but just shocked with his claims of disowning our second child. How can he say that our second child was born when we were in a live-in relationship? I have agreements which state us as husband and wife and will submit all of this in court.

WHEN ACTRESS NIHARIKA CALLED NAWAZUDDIN ‘TOXIC’

Besides this, Nawazuddin also made headlines for the wrong reasons when actress Niharika Singh, who was once in a relationship with him, called him a ‘sexually repressed’ person, who believed in toxic male entitlement. In the public statement, she also said that he has deep caste prejudice.

ONE-NIGHT STAND WITH A WAITRESS
Nawzauddin also mentioned in his memoir that he once had a one-night stand with a waitress in New York after she recognised him from one of his movies.

“I was at a cafe once with my friend in New York City’s Soho area. The stunning waitress kept staring at me. ‘You? You are an actor?’ she asked a rhetorical question. ‘Yes!’ I replied. ‘Which film of mine did you see? Gangs of Wasseypur?’ She squinted, trying to remember, ‘No, no,’ she said. ‘Another film!’ After a few moments, she responded: ‘Lunchbox!’ We got talking and let’s just say what happens in New York stays in New York,” read a excerpt from his memoir

Despite his chequered personal life, Nawazuddin Siddiqui remains an integral part of the film industry. He is currently working on Saindhav, which marks his Telugu debut. He also has Tiku Weds Sheru, Jogira Sara Ra Ra and Haddi in his kitty.
