Slough Hindu Temple Celebrates The Grand Dussehra Festival And Ravan Dahan

The Slough Hindu Temple, a cherished symbol of cultural heritage and spirituality, hosted a spectacular Dussehra celebration and Ravan Dahan on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, with the generous support of the Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Group.

The symbolic burning of an effigy of the demon king Ravan is a significant ritual during the Hindu festival of Dussehra. This act symbolizes the victory of good (represented by Lord Rama) over evil (represented by Ravan). During Dussehra celebrations, people gather to witness the dramatic and festive burning of the Ravan effigy.

This event marked a significant day of festivity, unity, and cultural richness for the local community. Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is an iconic Hindu festival celebrated with great fervour, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
