This year, Eid celebrations will turn grand as Salman Khan’s Sikandar is set to release in theatres on March 30. With just two days left, the excitement is now building among the fans.
Ticket prices indicate strong demand, with prices soaring over Rs 2000 in metros and some single-screen theatres charging up to Rs 700 for recliner seats.
The advance booking for Sikandar opened on March 25, with BookMyShow making tickets available across most theatres in India by the evening. Multiplexes have implemented blockbuster pricing for premium tickets, with rates soaring. In Delhi’s DLF Mall in Saket, the price for a VIP ticket is Rs 800. The morning show in Mall of India, Noida, is Rs 1000 for a recliner, while the evening show witnessed a surge in prices, soaring to Rs 1400.
In Mumbai’s Dadar, Plaza Cinema has set recliner seat prices as high as Rs 700 for evening shows. While some see this as a sign of strong demand, others in the industry worry it could deter audiences. However, many screenings in Delhi-NCR are already sold out while others are filing fast.
However, this pricing trend isn’t widespread, as many single screens, like Delhi’s Delite, have tickets ranging from Rs 90 to Rs 200.
Meanwhile, as per Sacnilk, Sikandar has generated significant buzz since advance ticket sales began on Tuesday. So far, over 98,296 tickets have been sold, contributing Rs 2.83 crore to the total box office collection. The majority of sales come from the film’s 2D format, which accounts for Rs 2.81 crore with 98,057 tickets sold, while the remainder is from IMAX 2D screenings. Maharashtra and Delhi have emerged as the strongest markets for the film. Maharashtra leads with Rs 1.55 crore in advance sales, followed by Delhi at Rs 1.29 crore.
Directed by A. R. Murugadoss, Sikandar boasts an ensemble cast featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi, alongside Khan.
