Serena Williams has given birth to her second child, a girl named Adira River Ohanian.
This joyous announcement was made through a social media post on Tuesday, shared by Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
Adira’s birth came almost six years after Williams and Ohanian’s first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Posting about the new member of the family, Alexis Ohanian wrote, “I’m grateful to report our house is full of love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and a happy & healthy mama.”
In 2022 at the US Open, Williams was at a significant crossroads in her professional career. During the event, she was actively preparing to transition away from tennis to devote more attention to her family life. The news of her second pregnancy was revealed in May this year when she candidly shared it while attending the Met Gala event in New York.
Fondly dubbed by her husband as ‘GMOAT’, standing for the Greatest Mother Of All Time, this term testifies to Williams’ unwavering devotion and love as a mother. It is quite a shift from her widely accepted moniker in professional tennis, ‘GOAT’ for the Greatest Of All Time.
Williams remains an extraordinary figure in sports at the age of 41, with an enviable record of 23 Grand Slam singles titles. Despite her iconic status in the tennis world, her primary focus evidently rests on embracing the pleasures and challenges of family life, indicating a new direction in her personal journey.
