Rishabh Pant spotted batting in full flow for first time since car accident

Star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been spotted batting in full flow for the first time since his horrific car accident in December 2022.

The accident occurred on the Delhi-Dehradun highway while Pant was driving to his hometown of Roorkee. His car hit a divider in Manglaur, flipped over, and caught fire. Pant sustained injuries to his head, back, and leg but managed to escape the burning vehicle by breaking a window.

Pant was seen stepping out to hammer the ball out of the ground in a fan video shared on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, with roars of onlookers accompanying the shot. The batter’s confidence may have benefited from the shimmy down the pitch as well, because the crash had primarily affected his knee. Pant, who has been recovering at the NCA, paid a visit.

During the function, Pant exhorted people to keep enjoying sports. “Once you keep growing older, you stop loving the game. One of the reasons is that there is a lot of pressure; you want to excel in life and do this and that. “But enjoyment nahi miss karna hein life mein, (Don’t miss enjoyment in life),” Pant said in a video shared by Sangita Jindal, chairperson of JSW Foundation.

The accident left Pant with two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and other injuries including damage to his right wrist, ankle, toe, and abrasions on his back. Despite the severity of the accident, Pant’s condition stabilized and he began his recovery process. However, due to the extent of his injuries, veteran India pacer Ishant Sharma expressed doubt that Pant would be fit to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Pant, born on October 4, 1997, has had an illustrious career in cricket, playing all formats for India and captaining Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He made his T20I debut for India in January 2017, his Test debut in August 2018, and his ODI debut in October 2018. In 2022, Pant was named the Indian captain for the T20I series against South Africa.

Despite the setback from the accident, Pant has shown significant progress in his rehabilitation. As of August 16, 2023, he had resumed batting and keeping in the nets, indicating a promising return to the cricket field. His fans and fellow cricketers eagerly await his full recovery and return to the game.
