Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Vijaypur in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning amid tight security on the 129th day of the yatra.

The yatra was attended by former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, General Secretary Organisation KC Venugopal, former minister Tariq Hamid Karra and former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir along with a large number of party workers and supporters carrying tricolours.

The padyatra headed for Jammu, the winter capital of the region, on Monday. The yatra will take a halt at Gurudwara Ashok Nagar near Satwari Chowk in Jammu. All the necessary arrangements have been made for the yatra in the region, officials said.

Security has been beefed up across the Union Territory in the wake of two bomb blasts in the Narwal area on the outskirts of Jammu city on Saturday which resulted in injuries to nine people.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra kick-started on September 7 last year from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. It will culminate on January 30 in Jammu and Kashmir with Gandhi hoisting the national flag at his party headquarters at a mega rally.

Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra yatra entered Jammu and Kashmir via Pathankot-Punjab on Thursday. This is the final phase of the 3500-km foot march by the Congress leader which started from Kanyakumari in September.

The yatra will take a night halt at Sports Stadium Sidhra in Jammu.

Traffic police have issued a detailed advisory to ensure smooth movement of traffic on the highway and other link roads in the city.
