Rahul Gandhi smirked, but I invite him to watch Emergency: Kangana Ranaut

After extending an invitation to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi to watch her upcoming film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut has now invited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the same.

Directed by and starring Kangana, the film is based on the life of Priyanka and Rahul’s grandmother and former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. However, Kangana was critical of Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour when she met him.

Speaking to Times Now, Kangana said, “He doesn’t have much etiquette.”

Recalling her interaction with Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament, Kangana shared, “She smiled and said… This was a very lovely conversation that we had in Parliament. I remember it very fondly. She is quite courteous, unlike her brother. She is definitely sensible and also knows what she is speaking about. I actually enjoy talking to her.”

But Kangana’s views on Priyanka’s brother were less complimentary. “Her brother is total… you know how he is. He looked at me and smirked. He doesn’t have much etiquette. But I also invite him to watch the film,” she added.

Emergency features a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Ashok Chhabra, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in key roles. The film is set to release in theatres on January 17.

The movie delves into the state of emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977 and its aftermath, exploring one of the most turbulent periods in Indian political history.

Earlier, while speaking to IANS, Kangana assured audiences that she handled the subject with care. “I believe it’s a very sensitive and sensible portrayal of one episode and one personality. I’ve taken great care to portray Mrs Gandhi with dignity,” she said.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted Emergency a U/A certificate.
