In an interview with ANI, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Centre government is not trying to remove the Mughal legacy, while answering a question about renaming of cities.
When asked if the government is trying to remove the Mughal legacy by renaming the cities after Mughal emperors, the Home Minister said no one is trying to remove the legacy of the Mughals but “no one should object either if someone wants to establish the tradition of this country.”
“We have not changed the name of even a single city which previously did not have an old name,” Shah added.
He further said that the BJP governments have taken well-thought-out decisions and that every government has its statutory rights.
