Following the Supreme Court order, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the city-wise and centre-wise results of all 24 lakh students.

Who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Undergraduate (NEET- UG) 2024 on its official website on Saturday. Notably, the NTA is under the scanner for alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam, including paper leak.

The result, analysed by India Today, highlights an unusually high number of qualified candidates from two specific centres: Rajkot in Gujarat and Sikar in Rajasthan.

At centre number 22701, Unit-1 School of Engineering, RK University in Gujarat’s Rajkot, more than 70 per cent of the NEET-UG candidates qualified for medical college seats. Out of 1,968 students, 1,387 met the qualifying score. Specifically, over 12 students scored 700 and above marks, 115 students got 650, 259 bagged 600, 403 scored above 550 marks, and 598 students scored more than 500 marks. One student also scored a perfect 720.

This centre stands out with the highest number of students scoring over 700 marks in India, contributing significantly to Gujarat’s total of 122 students scoring above 700, with 19 from Rajkot alone.

SIKAR CENTRE SEES HIGHEST QUALIFICATIONS
In Rajasthan’s Sikar, the Vidya Bharti School centre saw 8 students scoring above 700 marks, 69 students above 650, 155 above 600, and 241 above 550, from a total of 1001 students.

STATE-WISE RESULTS
Rajasthan leads with 482 students scoring above 700, followed by Maharashtra with 205, Kerala with 194, and Uttar Pradesh with 184.

States like Gujarat, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Haryana are among those from where the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested people, including students, parents and members of “paper solver” gangs, in connection with the alleged leak of the question paper of the May 5 NEET-UG exam.

CENTRES UNDER SCRUTINY
Several centres have been under scrutiny for potential paper leaks. In Jay Jalaram International School of Gujarat’s Godhra, the highest score was 678, and in Jay Jalaram School Dahod, the highest was 600. At Hardayal Public School in Haryna’s Jhajjar, previously controversial for awarding grace marks, only 10 students scored above 600, with none above 700 after grace marks were removed.

At Oasis Public School in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, a centre implicated in the NEET paper leak investigation by the CBI, only 22 students scored above 600 marks. The investigation revealed that paper seals were broken, and question papers were distributed to candidates a day before the exam for significant bribes.

MATTER IN SUPREME COURT

The results of the May 5 exam, originally announced on June 5, have now been released in a centre-wise format as directed by the top court.

The court is reviewing multiple petitions concerning alleged irregularities in the May 5 test, which was conducted at 4,750 centres across 571 cities, including 14 international locations, for over 24 lakh candidates.

The top court mandated that the results be released with the identities of candidates masked. This was to determine if candidates from the allegedly compromised centres scored higher than those from other centres.

The court is set to continue hearing arguments on July 22 regarding petitions calling for the exam’s cancellation, a re-test, and a court-monitored investigation into the malpractice allegations in this prestigious exam.
