Olympic Champion Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will be back in action on Friday at the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League, seeking his second straight podium finish of the season.
Neeraj is back on the field after a one-month injury lay-off and will be aiming to be on the top step of the podium once again. The 25-year-old Indian star javelin thrower made the perfect start to the Diamond League season, as he finished first at Doha, Qatar on May 5.
He also registered his fourth career-best throw of 88.67 metres at the aforementioned event and looked to be fine form. However, the Olympic Champion had to sit on the sidelines for a bit after suffering a muscle strain.
Neeraj had issued a statement on the setback on May 29 and said he would be pulling out of the FBK Games on June 4 at Hengelo as a precautionary measure. Thankfully enough, the 25-year-old didn’t miss any Diamond league competition as the legs in Rabat, Rome, Paris and Oslo didn’t have men’s javelin throw on the roster.
India’s latest Diamond League podium finisher, Murali Sreeshankar, will also be in action in the long jump event on Friday.
