Mutual funds, stock markets, Rs 55,000 cash: Rahul Gandhi’s Rs 20 crore assets

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections.

In Kerala’s Wayanad, from where he is a sitting MP. According to the affidavit filed by Rahul Gandhi, he has stock market investments of Rs 4.3 crore, mutual fund deposits of Rs 3.81 crore, and Rs 26.25 lakh in a bank account.

The 53-year-old leader also declared Rs 55,000 in cash and a total income of Rs 1,02,78,680 (Rs 1.02 crore) during the financial year 2022-23.

Rahul Gandhi also possesses gold bonds worth Rs 15.2 lakh. He has investments in National Savings Schemes, Postal Savings, and insurance policies, among others, worth Rs 61.52 lakh.

The former Congress chief’s jewellery assets are worth Rs 4.2 lakh, as per the affidavit.

The total value of his movable assets stands at Rs 9.24 crore, while the total value of his immovable property is around Rs 11.14 crore. His total assets are worth over Rs 20 crore, according to the details furnished along with his nomination.

Rahul Gandhi also has a liability of about Rs 49.7 lakh.

The Congress leader filed his nomination after a mega roadshow in his constituency, along with other senior leaders, including his sister Priyanka Gandhi and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal.

Rahul Gandhi is set to take on senior CPI leader Annie Raja and BJP’s Kerala president K Surendran in Wayanad. He had won the same seat in 2019 with a massive margin of over four lakh votes.

Single phase polling in Kerala to elect MPs from its 20 Lok Sabha seats will be held on April 26. In the outgoing House, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has 19 MPs from the state.
