Jasprit Bumrah has returned to playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday, April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Bumrah has returned to playing competitive cricket for the first time since the New Year’s Test against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Back in January, Bumrah finished as the top wicket-taker in the five-match series, but injured his back. Thereafter, he missed the bilateral series against England and the Champions Trophy.
Earlier, Mahela Jayawardene, the MI head coach, confirmed that Bumrah was available for the match against RCB.
“He’s available, he’s training today, and should be available [for the RCB game]. He arrived last night. He had his sessions with NCA [now Centre of Excellence] to finalise that, he’s been handed over to our physios. He’s bowling today, so all good,” Jaywardene said in the pre-match press conference.
The five-time champions, MI, have again used Rohit Sharma as one of their Impact Player options. MI have had their fair share of challenges as they are languishing at eighth in the table with two points and a net run rate of +0.108 after losses in three out of four matches.
As far as RCB are concerned, placed third in the table, they will be looking to become the table toppers, dethroning Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals.
