Manchester United staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt 3-2, securing their first Europa League victory under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur were denied all three points dramatically as AS Roma salvaged a 2-2 draw with a last-gasp goal on Thursday.

United’s Resilience at Old Trafford

At Old Trafford, the match began with a moment of fortune for United. Within the opening minute, Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin mishandled a back pass under pressure from Rasmus H¸jlund, leaving Alejandro Garnacho with an easy tap-in. However, Bodo/Glimt responded emphatically.

Håkon Evjen’s stunning 19th-minute strike into the top corner brought the visitors level, and Philip Zinckernagel muscled past Tyrell Malacia to beat André Onana, putting the Norwegian underdogs ahead and shocking the home crowd.

United rallied before halftime. Noussair Mazraoui’s precise delivery found H¸jlund, who controlled the ball brilliantly before firing a clinical finish to equalize. The Danish striker struck again shortly after the interval, guiding Manuel Ugarte’s low cross into the net to give United the lead.

Despite dominating the second half, United were unable to extend their advantage and relied on two key saves from Onana to secure the victory. The result lifted United to 12th in the standings with nine points, while Bodo/Glimt remained seventh with seven points.

Spurs Denied Victory by Roma’s Late Strike

In North London, Tottenham Hotspur looked poised for a win but were left frustrated as Roma’s Mats Hummels scored a late equalizer in stoppage time.

Spurs took an early lead when Son Heung-min converted a fifth-minute penalty after Hummels fouled Pape Matar Sarr. Roma leveled in the 20th minute through Evan N’Dicka, who finished from Paulo Dybala’s free kick delivery. Roma appeared to have turned the tide when they scored again, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Tottenham regained the lead in the 33rd minute as Dejan Kulusevski set up Brennan Johnson for a powerful low strike. However, despite dominating much of the match, Spurs failed to close the game out.

In added time, a Roma corner initially cleared by Spurs was recycled into the box, where Hummels pounced to secure an unlikely draw for José Mourinho’s side.

The result leaves Spurs in ninth place with 10 points, while Roma sit 21st with six points, keeping both teams within striking distance of advancing to the next stage.
