The Lok Sabha experienced massive disruptions during the Winter Session of Parliament, losing 65 hours in the third session alone and over 70 hours cumulatively across all three sessions.
The session, which began on November 25, concluded abruptly earlier today after being declared sine die amidst continued protests by Opposition MPs over a scuffle that erupted on December 19.
As per official data, the Lok Sabha lost 5 hours and 37 minutes in the first session, an hour and 53 minutes in the second session and an astounding 65 hours and 15 minutes in the concluding session.
The Lower House sat for debate for 34.16 hours in the first session and the number grew to 115.21 hours in the second session. However, the number of hours of debate fell to a low of 62 in the third session.
The Lok Sabha saw seven sittings in the first session, 15 sittings in the second and 20 sittings in the third. Due to the disruptions, the MPs also agreed to sit in the House to complete listed businesses.
The MPs sat late for seven hours in the first session and for over 33 hours in the second session. In the third session, the Lok Sabha MPs sat late for 21.7 hours.
