JP Nadda’s tenure as Bharatiya Janata Party national president was extended on Tuesday. JP Nadda will remain the BJP chief for the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls.

“The tenure of JP Nadda as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been extended till June 2024,” BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced.

“Under JP Nadda’ leadership, we had the highest strike rate in Bihar. The NDA won majority in Maharashtra, won in Uttar Pradesh, and our numbers increased in West Bengal. We also registered a landslide victory in Gujarat,” Amit Shah added.

Talking about next year’s general elections, Amit Shah said, “I am sure that under the leadership of Modi ji and with Nadda ji, we will win more seats than 2019 in 2024 polls.”

The announcement came on the second and concluding day of the BJP’s national executive meeting, which is being held in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other top leaders, including Union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, party president JP Nadda and BJP chief ministers, are attending the all-important meeting.

The BJP national executive meet, which extended Nadda’s presidency, will draw a roadmap for the upcoming crucial state polls that will set the tone for 2024 when PM Narendra Modi seeks a third straight term.

JP NADDA’S TENURE AS BJP CHIEF

JP Nadda started as the BJP working president in 2019 when then party chief Amit Shah became a Union minister. Nadda took up the full-time party presidency in 2020. His extension as the national president of the saffron party was anticipated.

The extension came on the back of the BJP’s resounding win in Gujarat, but also its loss in JP Nadda’s home state Himachal to Congress in the recently concluded state assembly elections.

Nadda’s tenure as BJP chief has been extended till June 2024. JP Nadda will be the BJP national president during the next general elections, expected to be held in May, 2024.
