Imran Khan’s ex-wife and producer Jemima Goldsmith on Thursday expressed her relief at the news of the former Pakistan PM being safe after the attempt on his life.

She also conveyed their sons’ gratitude to the man who caught the attacker. “The news we dread… Thank God he’s okay. And thank you from his sons to the heroic man in the crowd who tackled the gunman,” she tweeted.

Tweeting a picture of the man who caught the attacker, she called him a “hero”.

Goldsmith, a British screenwriter, television, film and documentary producer was Imran Khan’s first wife. The couple married in 1995 but got divorced in 2004. They had two sons — Sulaiman Isa (born in 1996) and Kasim (born in 1999).

Khan was shot at in Wazirabad during his ‘real freedom’ rally against the Shehbaz Sharif government. Imran Khan on October 29 embarked on a long rally from Lahore to Islamabad against the incumbent government in Pakistan. The rally was scheduled to reach Islamabad on November 4.

Imran Khan has been admitted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore where he’s reported to be in a stable condition.
