‘Jailer’ box office collection Day 1: Rajinikanth’s film shatters records
Superstar Rajinikanth’s much awaited film, ‘Jailer’, took a massive opening at the box office on August 10.
Based on early estimates, the film grossed around Rs 49 crore and had a historic opening, however, the final offical figures are yet to come in. Worlwide, ‘Jailer’ shattered many records. The film marks Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar. It also stars Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar.

The Nelson Dilipkumar-directorial marks Rajinikanth’s return to the big screen after two years. Since morning, we even saw visuals of fans lined up outside theatres to watch the Rajini mania unfold. Many even burst crackers, poured milk, and danced with drums outside theatres. Fans even took Twitter to share their reviews of ‘Jailer’.
Based on early estimates, industry tracker Sacnilk reported that ‘Jailer’s’ first day collection could amount to Rs 49 crore gross in India. The film had around 78 per cent occupancy. The state wise breakdown suggests that Tamil Nadu could bring in Rs 25 crore, meanwhile, we can expect Rs 11 crore from Karnataka. The Andhra Pradesh-Telangana market is expected to mint Rs 7 crore.
Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan wrote on Twitter, “Superstar #Rajinikanth’s #Jailer takes BIGGEST ever opening of 2023 at TN, AP, TS, KA, KL, OS, ROI Box Office from Tamil Cinema. Rajinikanth is now seen in Nelson Dilipkumar’s film, ‘Jailer’ that released in theatres on August 10 worldwide. The film also features Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar playing cameos.
