Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, on Monday, said that Islamic terrorism has plagued the United States, India, and other Middle Eastern countries and added.

That Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump are working together to “defeat that threat”. Gabbard, who is on a visit to India, said that Trump has been committed to defeating this threat in his first term and now in his second administration, and he is working in collaboration with PM Modi in this regard.

When asked about how the Trump administration sees the repeated terror attacks by Pakistan on India, Gabbard gave an “Islamic terrorism” response.

“President Trump, in his first administration and the presidency that continues now, has been very clear about his commitment to defeating this threat of Islamist terrorism that has plagued us, has and continues to pose a threat to American people. We see how it has been impacting people here in India and Bangladesh. Currently, ongoing in Syria, Israel, and different countries in the Middle East. This is a threat that PM Modi also takes seriously and one where leaders of our two countries will work together to identify and defeat that threat,” she said in an interview with ANI.

Upon being asked if the deep state was involved in the regime change bid in India, Gabbard responded in negative and said that the intelligence officials were using an intelligence-based chat network to carry out a “highly unprofessional and sexually explicit conversation” for a long period of time.

“I can tell you to my knowledge, the answer is no. What you are referring to unfortunately was an incident that came to my attention where for an extended period of time we had intelligence professionals who were using an intelligence-based chat network to conduct a highly unprofessional and sexually explicit conversation. This not only violates the basic professionalism that we expect of all of our government employees, but it really violates the specifically around those, the trust that the American people need to have in our intelligence professionals,” she said.

Gabbard arrived in India on a three-day visit as part of her multi-nation trip. It is her first visit to India after being confirmed as the US DNI in the Trump administration. She will also address Raisina Dialogue on March 18.
