KKR’s new man, Mitchell Starc, admitted that he was shocked to see himself getting sold for Rs. 24.75 crore during the IPL Auction 2024.

Starc made a historic return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after an 8-year hiatus, shattering records with a monumental bid of ₹24.75 crore from KKR. This staggering amount not only made him the most expensive buy in IPL history but also surpassed the previous record held by his compatriot Pat Cummins.

KKR were involved in a major tug of war with Gujarat Titans for the signature of the Aussie pacer and they held on till the end to get their man. Speaking to JioCinema, Starc said he was really excited to get his name in the auction and was happy to join the two-time IPL Champions.

“It’s been a little while since I’ve been involved, but I’m really excited to get my name in the auction and to be joining KKR this upcoming season. So, yeah, thrilled to be joining,” said Starc.

Starc commented on his price tag and said it was a shock for him as well but was thrilled to be back in the IPL.

“Yeah, it was a shock, if you call it. But, my wife, Alyssa Healy, is actually over in India with the women’s team.”

“And I think their coverage was slightly ahead of mine in Australia. So I was getting updates before I could see it on the screen. So, yeah, just as I said, pretty well, surprised, but, thrilled to be back involved in the IPL this coming season. And, yeah, really excited to be joining KKR,” said Starc.

Cummins was also bought for Rs. 20 crore by SRH and Starc said that the Australian team’s WhatsApp group has been going off with their teammates telling them that the dinner bill be on them,

“Yeah, our test squad group, WhatsApp group has been going off, letting us know that I think it’s our shout for dinner and drinks. So it might be a costly little trip to Melbourne for us for the Boxing Day test. But, yeah, we’ve managed to find some luck tonight and, uh, yeah, a pretty special night for the both of us,” said Starc.
