IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony: AR Rahman, Akshay Kumar shine in glitzy curtain-raiser

It was a sensational opening act as legendary Indian artists, including AR Rahman, Sonu Nigam, and Akshay Kumar, enthralled.

The fans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Indian Premier League opening ceremony featured songs, a high-octane dance show, and a special hologram display, which brought iconic monuments to Chepauk on Friday, March 22.

Chepauk was decked up wonderfully for the curtain-raiser of the IPL 2024 and the performances lived up to the hype after a series of iconic artists were announced.

Akshay Kumar arrived for the opening ceremony in style as he slid down from the night sky in Chennai. The Bollywood superstar had a tri-colour in his hand and as he landed on the stage, he was joined by Tiger Shroff. The ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ actors set the stage on the fire with their sensational dance show. Akshay matched Tiger’s energy on the stage as they added colour to the already glittering ceremony.

There was a bit of promo for their upcoming film, ‘Bade Miyan Chota Miyan’, as the two actors performed for ‘Wallah Habibi’, which is already a chartbuster.

The Chennai crowd got a glimpse of Tiger Shroff’s energy as he danced to ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ from War.

The two actors rounded up their opening act by taking a lap around the ground on a motorbike with tri-colour in their hands.
