Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to Narendra Modi from the jail, raising questions about the latter’s academic qualifications.

In the letter written by Sisodia from Tihar Jail, where he is lodged in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy, Sisodia took a jibe at PM Modi, saying India needs an educated Prime Minister “for the country to progress”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted a copy of Sisodia’s letter. Echoing Sisodia’s sentiments, Kejriwal said it is “dangerous” for the country to have an uneducated Prime Minister.

“Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to the nation from jail. Prime Minister being less educated is very dangerous for the country. Modi Ji does not understand science. Modi Ji does not understand the importance of education. 60,000 schools have closed in the last few years. It is necessary to have an educated Prime Minister for the progress of India,” the Chief Minister tweeted in Hindi.
