Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, called Himanta Biswa Sarma the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country.

His statement comes a day after an FIR was registered against him and other Congress leaders for clashing with the police in Guwahati.

“He is the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country. Whatever is told to you by the media is exactly what the Assam CM has conveyed to them,” said Gandhi during his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Assam’s Barpeta.

“The control of Assam’s Chief Minister is in the hands of Amit Shah. If he (Himanta Biswa Sarma) dares to say anything against Amit Shah, he will be thrown out of the party,” he added.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ has resumed in Barpeta on the 11th day of its journey. Gandhi had started the yatra from Thoubal, Manipur on January 14.

An FIR was registered against him and other Congress leaders on Tuesday following a clash between Congress workers and police personnel over the denial of permission for the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ to enter Guwahati through its main routes.

The Assam Chief Minister on Tuesday had said that a case was registered against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and other party workers. He mentioned that the FIR was filed by the police for “wanton acts of violence, provocation, damage to public property, and assault on police personnel by Congress members.
