Heavy rain in parts of Delhi, Noida brings respite from brutal heatwave

Delhi woke up to heavy rainfall on Thursday, bringing a much-awaited respite from the sweltering heatwave.

In the national capital. Visuals on social media showed several parts of the city receiving heavy rainfall. Noida, which is part of the National Capital Region (NCR) also received downpours.

The national capital witnessed overcast skies on Wednesday evening, with some regions receiving light rain. Palam, Aya Nagar and Ridge recorded 2.3 mm, 1.3 mm and 1.3 mm of rainfall in the evening, news agency PTI reported.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Delhi’s weather has fluctuated over the past few days due to a western disturbance, which runs roughly to the north of latitude.

The weather department has predicted mainly cloudy skies with light rain and drizzle, along with strong winds, in Delhi in the next few days, the PTI report added.
