No respite from rain for the people of Hindaun in Rajasthan as heavy rain caused a flood-like situation in the city, bringing normal life to a standstill.

Water levels have risen up to 5 to 6 feet in several parts of the city due to persistent rainfall over the past few days.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan was the worst hit among the north Indian states as the state reported 16 deaths over two days — two on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Karauli district recorded “exceptionally heavy rainfall” of 38 cm on Sunday.

India Today reported from the affected area of Karauli district, noting that many parts of Hindaun, including the main market and municipal council office, are submerged. The Higher Secondary School has also been affected by the rising waters.

Residents have expressed frustration, saying that neither political nor administrative representatives have visited to assess or address the situation. The flooding, especially in low-lying areas, has severely impacted the elderly and children.

The continuous rainfall has also damaged homes and belongings. Another resident lamented, “I have lost my belongings due to rainwater entering my home. The administration has not made any effort to reach out to us.”

Earlier on Sunday, the regional meteorological Centre in Jaipur mentioned that several parts of the state will receive heavy rain. Schools in Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur were closed due to severe waterlogging after incessant rain crippled normalcy in those towns.
