Harmanpreet Kaur gets emotional after meeting PM Modi: Feels like entire country is supporting us

India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur met and interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his New Delhi residence after leading.

The Indian team to a historic silver medal at the recently concluded Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Harmanpreet played a valiant knock of 65 runs but it went in vain as India suffered defeat in the summit clash and Australia won the match by nine runs to clinch the Commonwealth Games 2022 Gold.

“It’s quite important to receive motivation from the country’s PM. When PM Modi speaks with us, it feels like the entire country is supporting us and that everybody is appreciating our hard work. It’s a big achievement for our cricket team,” Harmanpreet was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“Cricket and India are inseparable. Our women’s cricket team played excellent cricket through the CWG and they bring home the prestigious silver medal. Being the first ever CWG medal in cricket, this one will always be special. Best wishes to all team members for a bright future,” PM Modi tweeted after Team India secured the silver medal in cricket at CWG 2022.

India wrapped up its Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign at fourth position with 61 medals (22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze). Wrestling topped the medal chart with 12 medals, including six gold while weightlifting accounted for 10 medals. India has delivered its fifth-best performance of all time in their Commonwealth Games history, with their best being a total of 101 medals when the games were held at home in 2010.
