On Friday, while gold prices are trading on the higher side, silver is retailing on the lower side of the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
Gold futures, maturing on August 5, 2022, stand at Rs 50,670 per 10 grams, recording a marginal dip of Rs 58 or 0.11 per cent. The previous close was recorded at Rs 50,621.
Similarly, silver futures, due on September 5, 2022, witnessed a downfall of Rs 67 or 0.12 per cent and were retailing at Rs 56,851 per kg on the MCX against the previous close of Rs 56,939.
The rate of gold jewellery differs across the country due to taxes imposed by states, excise duty and varying making charges.
Meanwhile, spot gold rose 0.1 per cent to $1,740.16 per ounce by 2:32 p.m. ET (1832 GMT) whereas spot silver rose 0.2 per cent to $19.21 per ounce. The U.S. gold futures settled up 0.2 per cent to $1,739.
