Alia Bhatt’s latest offering, Gangubai Kathiawadi, has left fans asking for more. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial film was released on February 25.
In the first weekend, the film managed to bring back the audience to the theatres and collected Rs 23.82 crore.
GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI CONTINUES TO SOAR HIGH
Alia Bhatt’s biggest career risk, Gangubai Kathiawadi, has paid off. The story revolves around a young woman, Gangubai, who ran the brothels in Mumbai’s Kamathipura. While the film earned Rs 10 crore on the opening day, by day 3 the film has managed to collect Rs 23.82 crore.
The numbers were shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He wrote, “#GangubaiKathiawadi witnesses super growth on Day 2 Tier-2 cities – which weren’t too strong on Day 1 – join the party on Day 2 Strong word of mouth has come into play, hence expect bigger numbers on Day 3 Fri 10.50 cr, Sat 13.32 cr. Total: 23.82 cr. #India biz (sic).”
The film saw a 40-50% growth in occupancy on Sunday. According to Box Office India, the night shows in Delhi are also going full.
