Pro-Khalistan radical preacher Amritpal Singh continues to evade arrest by the Punjab Police. The cops have initiated an all out manhunt and also getting help from other states in nabbing the ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief.

On Tuesday, the Punjab Police’s inspector general of police (IGP) Sukhchain Singh Gill addressed a presser in which he narrated the entire sequence of events of how the Khalistani preacher gave the police a slip. Now, several CCTV videos have surfaced corroborating the police claim.

CCTV footages show Amritpal Singh getting out of a Brezza SUV. Two motorcyclists are spotted next to the car in which he was travelling. The video shows Singh getting on one of the two bikes. Both the bikes immediately leave the spot with the preacher riding pillion on one of them.

According to Punjab Police, Singh had fled from Mehatpur in a Brezza car with the help of his aides. He stayed in a gurudwara in Nangal Ambian village before changing his attire and donning shirt and a trouser. He switched from the Brezza to a motorcycle as seen in the CCTV footage and fled the spot. Four people who helped him escape have been arrested.

“Those who arrested for helping Amritpal to flee from Mehatpur include Manpreet Manna (28) of village Nawan Killa of Shahkot, Gurdeep Singh Deepa (34) of village Bal Naun in Nakodar, Harpreet Singh Happy (36) of Kotla Nodh Singh village of Bullowal Hoshiarpur and Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja of village Goindara of Faridkot”, Gill said.

An arrest warrant has been issued against Singh under the National Security Act. His uncle and driver have already surrendered and have been taken to Dibrugarh in Assam.

According to an intelligence official, Amritpal Singh was offered money by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI during his stay in Dubai. He was paid as part of a conspiracy to revive militancy in Punjab. He was sent to Georgia to be trained by ISI before returning to India. The Punjab Police said Amritpal Singh was trying to raise his own milita called ‘Anandpur Khalsa Fauj’. The cops found bulletproof jackets and guns from his residence.
