Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul was left shocked after his team bottled a 136-run chase while playing at home against Gujarat Giants on Saturday, 22 April.
Rahul, captain of the side spoke right after the loss and looked shocked after the result of the game.
LSG were 53/0 after the powerplay and looked like they had the chase in the bag very early in the second innings of the game. A disastrous final 6 overs led to the downfall of the team where they scored just 23 runs. Asked about what had happened by the commentators, Rahul reacted in horror and said that he did not know.
“I don’t know how this has happened. It has happened so fast. I still cannot put a finger on it,” the LSG captain said.

“I don’t know how it has happened. It happened too fast. I can’t put a finger on where we let the game slip, which was in our pocket,” he further added.
Rahul, was 30* off 19 at the end of the powerplay in the second innings, and finished with 68 off 61 balls. He got out in the final over of the match trying to clear the fine leg boundary against Gujarat’s Mohit Sharma.
“We were quite brilliant with the ball and in the field. 135 is probably par or 10 under par. We used the conditions well. We started pretty well with the bat too. I still can’t say what happened,” Rahul told the broadcasters.
Lucknow lost the chance to reach the top of the table and are unmoved a the second position in the league. They have played 7 matches so far, while the rest of the teams have played 6 games. Rahul referred to the same but agreed that the loss was going to sting for a while.
“At the end of the day it is just a game, we still have four wins in seven, but this is going to sting for a while. We were well ahead in the game, I wasn’t trying to bat really deep, I was still trying to take the bowlers on that I fancy,” the captain concluded.
