‘Didn’t get any call’: Siddaramaiah on blast threat in Bengaluru on Saturday

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday denied having received any threat calls amid blast claims to rock Bengaluru.

“I haven’t received any threat calls,” Siddaramaiah told reporters.

His statement came amid reports that the Karnataka Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, State Home Minister G Parameshwara and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, had received a bomb threat via email.

In the bomb threat mail, the sender, Shahid Khan, warned that an explosion would rock Bengaluru at 2.48 pm on Saturday.

A case was soon registered after the sender warned of planting bombs at public events and busy places in the city, including restaurants, temples, buses, or trains.

The accused even demanded a ransom of 2.5 million dollars (more than Rs 20 crore) to refrain from carrying out the explosion.

Meanwhile, talking about the Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe blast, Siddaramaiah said that the anti-terror agency is doing investigation.

“The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is doing its investigation. They have also arrested five people. I do not know whom they have arrested,” said the Chief Minister.

The blast took place at the cafe on March 1 in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, leaving 10 people injured.
