Former poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Wednesday hit out at Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for defending Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s controversial remarks on population control.

Addressing an event, Kishor said, “Tejashwi has no knowledge about sex education as he did not attend school. People know he did not even clear Class 9.”

Kishor’s response came after Nitish Kumar’s comments on the importance of women’s education to control the population raised a storm on Tuesday with the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and women’s groups attacking him.

Kumar, while emphasising the importance of education among women to control the population, gave a vivid description in the state assembly on Tuesday about how an educated woman can restrain her husband during sexual intercourse.

However, Yadav defended Kumar, stating that whatever he said should be seen from the right perspective. “There was nothing objectionable. These things are taught to children in schools as part of sex education,” he said.

Hitting out at Yadav, Kishor said the former should publicly disclose which school he attended and where he received sex education from.

“As far as people know, he hasn’t even passed ninth grade. So, it should be revealed which school he went to and where he received sex education from. Tejashwi Yadav’s comments on Nitish Kumar’s remarks demonstrate his lack of knowledge,” Kishor said.

“If you haven’t been to school yourself, you wouldn’t understand. It’s like saying we haven’t been to space, so we don’t know what is happening there. If Tejashwi Yadav himself hadn’t been to school, how would he know how sex education is taught?” he stated.

“Sex education in schools is not taught in such vulgar and explicit language as the Chief Minister spoke in the assembly,” Kishor added.

“Tejashwi Yadav should go door-to-door and start sex education for the people. Then we’ll see how the people react,” he added.

Kishor further said, “Half the population in the state is female and the language Tejashwi Yadav is using is related to the context he discussed regarding sex education. It is a part of sex education.”
