Dharma clarifies rumours about ‘Kill’ remake: Only English language rights sold

Dharma Productions issued a statement today, July 16, in order to clarify the rumours surrounding the remake of ‘Kill’.

The production house shared a note on their official Instagram handle, where they addressed the speculations around ‘Kill’s remake.

Sharing this news on Instagram, they wrote, “Clarification regaqrding the Remak rights of out film KILL. Putting the recent speculation surrounding the remake of our film ‘Kill’ to rest – we confirm that only the english language remake rights have been sold. Indian language versions have not been acquired by any parties yet (sic).”

The production house has confirmed that only the English-language remake rights for ‘Kill’ have been sold to Lionsgate and 87Eleven Entertainment, the production companies behind the ‘John Wick’ franchise.

Chad Stahelski of 87Eleven Entertainment said in a statement, “‘Kill’ is one of the best action films seen recently. Nikhil has given such action sequences that more and more audiences should see. It is a pleasure for us to remake it. We have great responsibilities and I look forward to working with Nikhil, Karan, Apoorva, Guneet and Achin to achieve it.”

In a joint statement, the makers of ‘Kill’ said, “When we made Kill with Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, we dreamed of global love and the noise of ‘Kill’ in North American cinemas was like seeing that dream come true. As we approach our global release, we are happy that 87Eleven Entertainment will remake our film in English.”

‘Kill’, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala, was released on July 5 in Indian theatres and in the US theatres on July 4.
