Delhi sees season’s coldest morning at 6.5°C, minimum temperature to dip further

At 6.5°C minimum temperature, the national capital recorded the coldest morning of the season so far on Monday.

According to the Met Office, the normal minimum temperature is 9.6°C, so the temperature recorded was more than three notches below normal.

The Met Office said the current temperature pattern was likely to continue for at least the next five days, which means the minimum temperature would remain below normal. On Saturday, the minimum temperature was 8.5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR remained in the ‘very poor’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 314 at 7 am on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the air quality was likely to remain in the ‘very poor’ category till Tuesday.

The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 6 pm was 312 which is in the ‘very poor’ category. It was recorded at 322 at 6pm on Saturday.

The relative humidity recorded at 5.30 pm was 60 per cent.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’ , 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, 401 and 450 ‘severe’ and above 450 ‘severe-plus’.
