David Warner said that he intends to make some revelations in his upcoming book regarding the 2018 ball-tampering scandal that are likely to “raise some eyebrows”.

Back in 2018, during the Newlands Test in Cape Town against South Africa, Cricket Australia (CA) suspended Warner, then skipper Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft for altering the condition of the ball.

After Smith was suspended, Tim Paine took charge as their Test skipper. Although all three cricketers made their comebacks following the controversial incident, they had to bear the brunt for their past actions.

Warner put forth his views while speaking to Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist on the Prairie Club Fire podcast.

“There’s definitely a book in the pipeline, and I think it will be an interesting read. There’s going to be a lot of things in that book that I think are going to raise some eyebrows,” Warner was quoted as saying.

“I’ll have to edit a few chapters now, there’s a few more that have been added. It was 1500 pages, now it’s probably 2000.”

“It’s something that’s been thought of (discussing Newlands in the book) … it does keep getting brought up, and there’s been a lot of speculation, a lot of comments about it,” he said.

“It’s really important that the Australian cricket team is in a great space, that we’re playing well in all three formats, and I think that’s the upmost priority.”

After the Sandpapergate, Warner broke down in an emotional press conference where he apologised for his wrongdoing. The southpaw played T20 cricket around the world before making a return to international cricket in 2019.

“My side of the story … that can be told whenever. There are probably some things in the book that are definitely going to be related to 2018, but it’s not potentially going to be around what I know, what others know, because then it just becomes a tit-for-tat – it’s not that kind of story,” Warner added.

Warner recently retired from ODI and Test cricket and is set to end his career by playing T20Is for Australia. In his farewell Test against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Warner got scores of 34 and 57.
