Cristiano Ronaldo has said that the Saudi Pro League is better than the MLS after Lionel Messi was unveiled as an Inter Miami player on July 16, Sunday.

Messi was introduced by the MLS club to an ecstatic crowd of approximately 20,000 fans. The event, aptly named “La PresentaSIon,” marked the official arrival of Messi and the signing of former FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets, both of whom have committed to the club until 2025.

Messi and Ronaldo shared a great rivalry throughout their time in Europe, playing for arch-rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona at a point in time. Ronaldo ended his European journey in January of this year as he decided to join Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Speaking after his side’s friendly against Celta Vigo, as quoted by ESPN, the Portuguese superstar said that the Saudi Pro League is better than MLS and claimed he wouldn’t consider a move to the US.

“The Saudi league is better than MLS,” said Ronaldo.

Since Ronaldo joined Al Nassr, there has been a big influx of talent into the Saudi Pro League, with the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Neves joining teams like Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal respectively.

The Portuguese superstar claimed that he opened the way to the Saudi League for the other players.

“I opened the way to the Saudi league, and now all the players are coming here.”

Ronaldo also went on to say that he won’t make a return to Europe as he feels that European football has lost a lot of quality. The former Manchester United man said that the only valid one was the English Premier League.

“I’m 100 percent sure I won’t return to any European club,” Ronaldo said. “I’m 38 years old. And European football has lost a lot of quality. The only valid one and still doing good is the Premier League. They’re way ahead of all the other leagues.”
