After receiving a bomb threat, an IndiGo flight 6E 5314 operating from Chennai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport.

After landing in Mumbai, the flight crew followed protocol, and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines.

“All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft. The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection. Post-completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” the airlines stated in a statement.

Within a span of a week, this is the second incident of the bomb threat to an Indigo flight. Earlier on May 28, the aircraft received a similar threat on a flight from Delhi to Varanasi.

In a similar incident last week, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi received a bomb threat. Following the threat, the passengers on board were evacuated via emergency exits at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Video clips of the incident showed how passengers and the flight crew were exiting the plane through slides with their cabin baggage in tow.

However, as per the safety guidelines, evacuations need to be completed within 90 seconds. The passengers are not supposed to take any of their baggage during an emergency situation.

As safety guidelines were ignored in the Delhi incident, Indigo derostered two pilots and four cabin members.
