The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for a few tweaks in Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-anticipated film Chhaava.

The duo has been actively promoting Chhaava which is all set for a theatrical release on February 14. Ahead of that, it has been reported that the CBFC has made a few modifications. One of the key changes? The muting of the word ‘haramz*ada’ for a smoother theatrical release!

According to Bollywood Hungama, Chhaava went through a number of modifications during the censor process. Among them is the dialogue ‘Mughal sultanat ka zehar (Mughal empire’s poison)’. It has been reportedly replaced with ‘Uss samay, kayi shaasak aur sultanat khud ko zinda rakhne ki koshish kar rahe the (At that time, many rulers and empires were trying to keep themselves alive).’

CBFC also ordered the line ‘Khoon toh aakhir Mughalon ka hi hai (The blood is of the Mughals after all)’ to be changed to ‘Khoon toh hai Aurang ka hi (It’s Aurang’s blood).’

The words ‘haramz*adon’ and ‘haramz*ada’ have been muted. ‘Aameen’ has been replaced with ‘Jai Bhavani.’ Other changes include ‘16 saal (years)’ to ‘14 saal,’ ‘22 saal ka ladka (years old boy)’ to ‘24 saal ka ladka,’ and ‘9 saal’ to ‘kayi saal.’

According to the report, the CBFC instructed the makers of Chhaava to remove a scene depicting Maratha warriors wearing sarees. Additionally, they were asked to include an audio-text disclaimer mentioning the book the movie is adapted from, clarifying that the film does not intend to defame anyone or present inaccurate historical facts.

As per the CBFC website, Chhaava was certified on February 1, 2025. The film has received a ‘UA 16+’ rating and has a certified runtime of 161 minutes and 50 seconds, translating to 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 50 seconds.
