Border Security Force seized 22 Pak fishermen, 79 boats in Gujarat’s Bhuj in 2022

The Border Security Force in Gujarat apprehended 22 Pakistani fishermen and seized 79 fishing boats in the Bhuj district in 2022.

The security forces are responsible to securing 826 kms of India-Pakistan international border, from Barmer in Rajasthan to Rann of Kutch and Creek area, including 85 kms of coastal area of Gujarat.

The BSF Gujarat apprehended Pakistani fishermen and Pakistani fishing boats near creeks and Harami Nalla in Bhuj Sector. The security forces also recovered 50 packets of heroin worth Rs 250 crore and 61 packets of charas worth Rs 2.49 crore from coastal and creek region of Gujarat.

In Barmer, 14 packets of heroin worth Rs 70 crores were recovered in joint operation with Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) Jodhpur. The security forces also recovered Rs. 12.05 lakh from suspected smugglers.

The security forces also arrested 31 people for their involvement in various illegal trans-border activities. The arrested accused included 22 Indians, four from Pakistan, two from Bangladesh, two from Canada, and one Rohingya.

BSF Gujarat also conducted various events like Seema Bhawani Women Empowerment Ride from Delhi to Kanyakumari and Cycle Rally from Octroi (Jammu) to Bhuj, under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

As a means of public interface, BSF Gujarat organised various civic action programme and provided essential items and stores and conducted free medical camps, awareness programs of government schemes for benefit of border population. BSF organised skill development programs and also trained border youths for recruitment in CAPFs and other forces.
