Actress Chrisann Pereira, who was lodged at a jail in UAE’s Sharjah, has been released from jail.

The Bollywood actress was arrested in connection with a drug-smuggling case.

Pereira was arrested earlier this month in Sharjah by authorities after drugs were found hidden in a trophy she was carrying.

The 27-year-old has acted in movies like Sadak 2 and Batla House.

The Mumbai Crime Branch had also arrested two people on charges of framing the Bollywood actress in connection with the drug-smuggling case.

The arrested duo reportedly planted the drugs to get Chrisann Pereira imprisoned.

The accused were identified as Anthony Paul, a resident of Borivali in Mumbai and his accomplice, Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi, a resident of Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district.

According to the police, the duo had allegedly hidden the drugs in a trophy that Chrisann Pereira carried to Sharjah.

WHAT CHRISANN PEREIRA’s FAMILY ALLEGED

According to a statement by the actress’s family, she was framed. Thereafter, investigations into the matter began and the police learnt that Paul masterminded the plan to frame Chrisann in the case as an act of revenge against the actress’s mother, Premila Pereira.

Paul, along with his accomplice Ravi, hatched a plot to send Chrisann to the UAE for a purported audition for an international web series.

While going to the airport, she was handed the trophy in which they had hidden the drugs.

Officials also discovered that Paul had framed four other people in a similar manner.
