Several members of the BJP and the AAP exchanged blows on Friday in the chamber of the MCD House.
A BJP councillor was injured in the clash, with the saffron party alleging that AAP leader Atishi had instigated the attack. The Delhi BJP shared a video on Twitter, claiming that Atishi had whispered something to one of the AAP members, who then obeyed her “master” and started beating up BJP councillors.
In the clash, a BJP councillor sustained some injuries to her arm.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi lashed out at the BJP, accusing the party of creating a ruckus and attacking Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi.
“Today BJP showed goondaism in the Civic centre. A standing committee election was going on. When counting started, BJP realised they were losing and they created a ruckus. The mayor was attacked and physically assaulted by the BJP male member,” Atishi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
She added, “What behaviour is this? This is shameful and condemnable. The country is seeing this. BJP should accept their defeat. I request BJP to stop their goondaism. Those who have attacked the Mayor will be sent behind bars.”
