The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to take over the probe into attacks on the Indian High Commission in Canada and the United States, sources said.

The probe agency is already investigating the attacks on the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom and now, sources have said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is soon likely to transfer both cases (Canada and US) also, to the NIA.

In March this year, the Special Cell of Delhi Police filed two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the attack on the Indian High Commission in San Francisco and Canada.

A grenade was also thrown during the attack on the Indian High Commission in Canada, which prompted the Special Cell to file an FIR under the UAPA and the Explosive Act in this case.

The same month, a similar attack on the Indian High Commission was witnessed in San Francisco, United States.

The Special Cell registered an FIR under the UAPA in this case as well.

IN LONDON, NIA TEAM PROBES ATTACK ON INDIAN MISSION
A five-member team of the NIA had reached London on May 23, to probe the pro-Khalistani protests, during which the national flag at the Indian High Commission was pulled down in March this year.

The NIA team also carried a list of those with Khalistani links, which would be handed over to the British authorities and security agencies in London.

The case was handed over to the NIA by the Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalisation (CTCR) division of the MHA on April 18.
