Aamir Khan on Laapataa Ladies’ Oscar entry: So proud of Kiran and her entire team

Actor-producer Aamir Khan has finally reacted to Laapataa Ladies’ on becoming India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards. Directed by his ex-wife Kiran Rao, the film is produced by the actor.

Aamir shared in a statement, “We are all so happy with the news. I am so proud of Kiran and her entire team. I would like to thank the selection committee of the Film Federation of India, which chose our film to represent India at the Oscars.

He continued, “My heartfelt gratitude to our audience, our media, and the entire film fraternity, for all the love and support they have given Laapataa Ladies. Thanks to both Jio and Netflix who have been great partners to work with. I am so happy that all our hard-work has paid off.”

“Thank you everyone. Here’s hoping that Laapata Ladies is able to win the hearts of the members of the Academy,” he concluded.

After the announcement, Kiran Rao shared, “I am very happy. I was not expecting an Oscar entry as many good films have been made this year. Now we will have a chance to show this film to a much larger audience. I would like to thank the audience for giving so much love to this film. I think there is something for everyone in this film.”

Laapataa Ladies stars Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, and others. The film is now streaming on Netflix.
