‘Stree 2’ entered its third weekend on Friday, August 30, and recorded its lowest single-day business so far.

The horror-comedy collected Rs 7.75 crore on its third Friday, taking the overall collection of 16 days to Rs 440.80 crore, reported the trade website Sacnilk. The film is now looking at finishing its third weekend with its entry into the coveted Rs 500 crore club at the domestic box office.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, it earned Rs 291.65 crore in its first week, and Rs 141.4 crore in the second. ‘Stree 2’ recorded the biggest second week collection for a Bollywood film and surpassed the likes of ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’, among other Hindi films.

Week 1: Rs 291.65 crore

Sunday: Rs 42.4 crore
Monday: Rs 18.5 crore
Tuesday: Rs 11.75 crore
Wednesday: Rs 9.75 crore
Thursday: Rs 8.5 crore
Week 2: Rs 141.4 crore
Friday: Rs 7.75 crore
Total: Rs 440.80 crore

The film is now expected to create some more solid box office records in its third weekend. With no legit competition in theatres this weekend, it should be easy for the film to surpass the mark of Rs 500 crore nett in India. It is just Rs 60 crore away from achieving the feat.

‘Stree 2’ is riding heavily on its strong content value. The film, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, has benefitted the most from positive word-of-mouth from the audience on social media. In fact, it is likely to maintain its smooth run at the box office even during the next weekend, despite two big new releases – Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ and Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘GOAT’.

Both the new films will have to generate some extraordinary response among the audience in order to really compete with the massive run of ‘Stree 2’.
