Legendary actor Tom Cruise cut a beautiful promo in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Sunday, 11 August.

Cruise jumped from the roof of the Stade de France where the ceremony was held and helped the Olympic committee to transfer the flag from Paris to Los Angeles where the next edition of the games is set to be held. In Mission Impossible style, Cruise took the Olympic flag on his bike, live in front of the audience and took it to the airport, from where the flight took the flag to LA.

Cruise’s promo got a standing ovation from the crowd at Stade de France where he was seen painting the Hollywood logo in the colour of Olympic rings in a pre-recorded video.

Cruise’s promo was one of the biggest highlights of the night after a stunning light show and an exceptional music performance from rock bands and classical musicians all around the world. The gigantic Stade de France resembled a concert hall hosting a party to celebrate the fortnight of sporting excellence as a breathtaking closing ceremony kicked off with athletes marching into the iconic Stade de France to thunderous applause.

The nearly four-hour-long innovative opening ceremony over River Seine had showcased the architectural wonders of the city and the country’s rich heritage, and the closing ceremony was also enchanting, watched by close to 75,000 spectators.

The three-hour-long show, created by Thomas Jolly, began with a musical performance as an ode to the Games’ host city. French singer Zaho de Sagazan sang the famous ‘Sous le ciel de Paris’. Meanwhile, coming from the iconic Louvre museum, a torchbearer seizes the lantern that contains the Olympic Flame and sets off to the Stade de France. The closing ceremony celebrated the power of diversity and solidarity: just like the Olympics Games, which is considered the greatest intangible work of humankind for peace, and togetherness and that human beings are capable of the best.

Once the action moved into USA, the flag changed several hands ending up at the LA beach where the likes of Billy Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Jay Z produced a power-packed performance to entertain the crowd. A small gathering at the USA was energetic and danced to the tunes of a few of the biggest names in pop culture.

The ceremony ended with fireworks at Stade de France with the announcer stressing on how the players and the fans made friendships to last a lifetime at Paris.
