West Indies legend Curtly Ambrose had an inspirational message to the USA team after their loss to South Africa on June 19, Wednesday.
The USA side, who have been the surprise package of the tournament, once again put out a spirited performance as they pushed South Africa all the way in the match in Antigua. South Africa had posted 194 for 4 in their 20 overs.
Despite faltering early in the chase, Andries Gous’ 80 kept USA in the hunt till the end before they lost the match by 18 runs. After the match, Ambrose was a guest inside the USA dressing room and had a few words to share with the players. The West Indies legend praised the US side for playing a great game on Wednesday and said they can go on to build on the performance. Ambrose said that they had nothing to be embarrassed about the loss and they will do better in the coming games.
The legendary pacer told the USA side to keep believing in themselves and not to get intimidated by any team. Before ending his message, Ambrose asked the team to keep enjoying their game on the field.
“I make it quick. You guys played a great game today. Even though you lost, you played a great game. You can build on this for the other games. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing to be embarrassed. You played a damn good game against a good team. And you can build on this going forward for the other games.”
“I just want to wish you guys all the very best and you can do better. And you will do better. Just continue to believe in yourselves and don’t be intimidated by the team you play against. Always believe in yourself. Individually and as a team. You will get the result in the end. And ofcourse, enjoy what you do. It’s very important to do that. All the best going forward and you never know what can happen,” said Ambrose.
